GOALS:
1. Improve Cross-System Communication and Coordination
Establish clear protocols for timely information sharing between schools, courts, and service providers.
Identify and reduce barriers to collaboration, such as privacy laws or system silos.
2. Build Understanding Across Systems
Provide cross-training for group members (e.g., courts learn about school obligations, schools learn about court timelines and roles).
Develop a shared language and framework around child wellbeing and education success.
3. Increase School Stability and Engagement for Court-Involved Youth
Develop strategies to minimize school moves and absenteeism due to placement changes or court appearances.
Promote trauma-informed practices in schools and systems serving these youth.
4. Identify and Address Gaps in Support Services
Map existing supports (e.g., mentoring, tutoring, behavioral health) and identify where kids are falling through the cracks.
Advocate together for needed resources or policy changes.
